Tuesday: T.L.W. Begin ACT TWO of The Diary of Anne Frank p. 387-400. Define: forlorn, disgruntled, animation, inarticulate, tragedy, indomitable, annihilation, refuge, reconciliation, gaunt, inexplicable, dispirited, premonition, emaciated, raucous, and remorse. 8.1.11, 8.1.24 8.1.25, 8.1.23, 8.1.17,8.1.26,8.1.10.

Wednesday: T.L.W. continue to read from p. 400 scene 3 until the end of the story p.408. Homework: Write an “I am poem” for Anne Frank. (See p. 413.) Share in class tomorrow. Continue with Dangling and Misplaced Modifiers p. 415 and workbook p. 60. 8.2.22, 8.3.tpi 1, 8.3. spi 5.
Thursday: T.L.W. Draw a storyboard of the play. You will need colored pencils. Before class think about 6 of the most important events in the play. Draw your scenes on your storyboard. You may use stick figures.
Complete Making Meanings Act II p. 412- Reading Check(a-c) and then (1-9). Write complete reflective sentences. 8.1.25, 8.1.14, 8.1.7, 8.1.23, 8.1.26 8.1.10.
Friday: T.L.W complete the selection test on Anne Frank Part II. Go over p. 412 and share storyboards. Turn in vocabulary words for the week. 8.1.10, 8.1.24, 8.1.11, 8.3. tpi.4.

Tuesday: T.L.W. complete Chapt. 11 test. Begin Unit #4 p. 356-359. “The Jacksonian Era” 1824-1840. When did Pres. Jackson take office? In what country were all men given the right to vote in 1829? What countries could the Canadian colonists look to as examples when they demanded democratic reform in 1837? Define sufrage, Whigs, Democrats, caucus, nominatin convention. Take notes on New Political Parties. 8.3.5, 8.5.6, 8.5.11, 8.2.8, 8.4.8, 8.4.5
Wednesday: T.L.W. read and discuss “A New Era in Politics” p. 360-364. Complete Section 1 Assessment p. 364 (1-5) Respond to this question by writing a paragraph explaining your thoughts. “Does a man become wiser, stronger, or more virtuous and patirotic because he has a fine house?” Write a paragraph in which you agree or disagree with John Quincy Adams’s position that government should spend money to support the arts and sciences. Explain your answer. 8.4.5, 8.2.4, 8.3.3
Thursday: T.L.W. read and discuss “Jackson in the White House” p.365-368. What qualities helped Jackson succeed? What was the Spoils System? Why did Pres. Jackson fight the Bank of the United States? What was the “Kitchen Cabinet”? 8.4.8, 8.6.5, 8.4.3, 8.4.1
Friday: T.L.W. complete workbook p. Study for Quiz on 12-1 & 2. Explain the political cartoon p. 367. Complete the skills questions. 1-3. Distinguish Facts from Opinions p. 369 (1-4). 8.5.6, 8.4.4, 8.6.4
