Tuesday: T.L.W. review poetry elements, music of language, sound devices, and write a metaphor poem. Read “Maiden-Savin’ Sam: A Ballad” by Jenny Ellison of Knoxville, Tn. p. 519. Homework: Making Meanings and Reading Check. p. 520. Read “Too Soon a Woman p.547-551. Discuss motivation in a writer’s work. 8.1.14, 8.1.7, 8.1.6, 8.1.23

Wednesday: T.L.W. review propaganda techniques, credibility of sources, and text features. 8.1.3,8.1.17,8.2.11. Read and discuss “Davy is Born “p. 521-523. Be prepared for a quiz on ” Davy is Born” and “Too Soon A Woman”. Complete making meanings p. 552 (2-10).

Thursday: T.L.W. study poetry elements by reading “Casey At
The Bat” and “Barbara Freitchie”.See textbook p. 602-608. Making Meanings p. 605 and Reading Check. 8.1.26, 8.2.12.

Friday: Classes that meet today will complete selection test on “Too Soon A Woman” and ” Barbara Freitchie”. Turn in Making Meanings p. 605.  Write 3 Haiku poems on the theme of Nature. 8.1.10,8.1.19,8.1.24.
