Monday: T.L.W. CONTINUE WITH Gifted Hands. Chapt. 13 or 14 (depending on your class.) Remember last week we covered through p. 126. COPY VOCAB WORDS TO DEFINE AND USE EACH IN A SENTENCE : echelon, engulfed, miracle, emulate, colonel, reception, insensitive, defensive, recognition, mesmerized, exuberance, introspective, baccalaureate, consequently, monotonous, naive, precious, encompassing, significant, diagnosis, enterprising, compulsion, residency, trepidation, aspirations, trusts, compensate, adamant, 8.1.11,8.2.tpi.4.

Tuesday:T.L.W. continue reading Chapt. 14, 15, & 16. Remember, you may have to read some at home each night depending on class interruptions. 8.1, 8.2.tpi. 22.

Wednesday:T.L.W. complete vocab. quiz and continue reading the book- Chapt.. 17, 18, & 19. Turn in vocab definitions. 8.1.11, 8.2. tpi.25.

Thursday:T.L.W. complete chapts. 20, 21, & 22. Prepare for a selection/book test tomorrow. Study vocabulary. 8.1, 8.1.tpi.23.

Friday:T.L.W. complete selection quiz on the novel and turn in novel organizer. 8.1, 8.2.spi

Note:  All books Gifted Hands are due into Mrs. Brewer by Fri.  Fines will be levied on Mon. for all damaged books, missing books,  etc.  Clean out your lockers!

Tuesday: T.L.W. complete Chapt. 21 Test. Complete Time Line Questions on p 628-629. Begin Reform in the Guilded Age p. 630-632. President Chester A Authur.
What concerns shaped politics during the Gilded Age? How did reformers try to change the spoils system? What laws were passed to regulate big business? 8.6

Wednesday: T.L.W. complete test preparation p. 624-625 (1-11). Study and discuss “The Progressives p. 633-636. Chapt 22- 2 Assessment. How did corruption affect city governments? Think about today. Why were the muckrakers an important force for reform? What goals did the Progressives pursue? What political reforms did the Progressives achieve? 8.5D 8.3L3

Thurday: T.L.W. read about The Muckrakers p. 637 and complete the Activity at the bottom of the page. Analyze Progressives in the White House p. 638-643. Section #3 Assessment P. 643 (1-6, 8). What policies toward big business, conservation, and consumers did Theodore Roosevelt’s Square Deal follow? Why did Progressives first support and then oppose William H. Taft? What major issues affected the election of 1912? What policies did Woodrow Wilson follow as President? 8.6L2

Friday: T.L.W.complete Quiz on 22 -1 & 2 sections. Read and discuss Women Win Reforms p. 645-648. How did t he women’s suffrage movement help bring about the 19th Amendment? What new opportunities did women gain in education and employment? Why did many women support the crusade against alcohol? Complete Assessment P. 648 #4 (1-5, 7). 8.5 D
